The sealing gasket is essential part of plate heat exchanger. It is installed around the plate. It not only has sealing function but also forms a certain gap between the plates, thus forming a fluid channel. The temperature that the gasket can withstand is essentially the highest working temperature of the plate replacement
The upper and lower main sealing surfaces of the gasket should be flat and smooth, without any impurities, bubbles, pits, burrs, or other defects that affect the sealing. The cross-sectional color of the gasket should be uniform and free from mechanical impurities, bubbles, and other defects.
The gasket of the plate heat exchanger should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark environment, with an ambient temperature not exceeding 40 ℃. Do not come into contact with acids, bases, oils, or organic solvents.
The materials of sealant pads generally include EPDM , NBR , FKM, etc. Each type of rubber has its own different temperature range and medium range for use.
There are three main installation methods for sealing gaskets of heat exchangers on plates: direct bonding, inlay, and buckle mounting. The bonding structure is simple and easy to process, but installation and disassembly are relatively complicated. The structure of embedded and buckle mounted sealing gaskets is complex and difficult to process, but installation and disassembly are relatively easy.
